We are replacing our shorts and sandals with sweaters and hats, but that does not mean the end of downtown street festivals! The 2019 holiday season officially kicks off this week in Franklin County and here are some festive and glowing celebrations to bring you out into the village centers.

 


Moonlight Magic: Friday, November 29th, starting at 4 PM - 9 PM
Downtown Shelburne Falls

moonlight magic jpgJust a turn off the scenic and historic Mohawk Trail in the Berkshire foothills, you'll find the picturesque village of Shelburne Falls. A designated Massachusetts Cultural District, this village kicks off Franklin County's holiday season! Moonlight Magic has become a traditional event known across the region. Stroll the candle-lit streets, enjoy entertainment, a parade, delicious food, crafts, family activities and more!

Moonlight Magic is always on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. Here is this year's lineup of events: 

4pm Lighting of the village
4:30 Gather for Parade
5pm Parade of lights
5:15 MEGAdance on Bridge St.
5:30 Celtic Heels on Bridge St.
5:45 Lighted Boat Parade!
7-8:30 Welcome Yule roving singers and dancers

Visit Santa's workshop at the Senior Center, Ride the Trolley, and experience dozens of special events and performances throughout the evening. More info here.

Jingle Fest: Friday, December 6th, 5-8PM
Downtown Greenfield

jinglefest2015What could be better than a holiday celebration in Everyone's Hometown? Join the Greenfield Business Association and the downtown merchants in this festive holiday event. Jingle Fest includes the Veteran's Mall tree-lighting with carols and treats, Santa visit at Wilson's Department Store, Pop-up Performance Galleries in unused storefronts, Pop-up Holiday Market in The Pushkin, lighting of the Commons, Pop-up Art Gallery at the Hive, free showing of "Charlie Brown Christmas" at the Greenfield Garden Cinemas, Free Family Night at the YMCA, Festival of Trees at Wilson's Department Store, Pop-up Shop with the Franklin Community Cooperative - and so much more - with Luminaries lighting the way!

It's a Wonderful Night in Turners Falls!

Its A Wonderful Night2015Shopping, Dining and Seasonal Cheer

Planned throughout this vibrant and artsy downtown along the Connecticut River are festive holiday activities for the whole family. Art exhibitions, live music, winter window displays, holiday green screen photos shoot, Great Falls Gift Mart, Angel Card readings, restaurant specials, performances and unique gift buying opportunities. Santa collects wishes from the Magic Mailboxplus live music and hot chocolate all at Spinner Park at 6:30pm. The public is invited A performance of Welcome Yule at 7:30pm at the Shea Theater and J'aduke's Holiday Spectacular will also be happening at their new theater.

Special Day in Northfield Holiday Celebration: Saturday, December 14, starting at 10 AM

SpecialDayNorthfieldTEMPLATEClassic New England architecture, picturesque views and a warm community are reasons enough to visit the center of Northfield, but your visit will be extra special when you go during this free day-long holiday celebration for the whole family.

Activities include horse drawn hayrides, gingerbread people decorating, bonfire with live music at dusk, a holiday craft workshops at several locations on Main Street, strolling costumed characters singing at various venues, and Santa reading "The Night Before Christmas".

Midnight Madness: Saturday, December 14th, from 6PM- 12AM

A collaboration between the towns of Athol and Orange, Midnight Madness is a great way to shop locally for excellent gifts, get tremendous discounts and support the local economy while being treated to entertainment and performances from the North Quabbin region. The night features a sleigh full of prizes with products and gift certificates from local businesses and artisans including three prize packages worth over $2,000 and of course, deep discounts, some up to 50% or more!
